Upon introduction, both trims are equipped with a standard 5.2-liter, V10, 560-horsepower engine that achieves 12-mpg in the city and 20-mpg on the highway. A 6-speed manual transmission with overdrive is standard, and a 6-speed automatic transmission with overdrive is optional. The 2009 Gallardo is freshened for 2009.

Upon introduction, both trims are equipped with a standard 6.5-liter, V12, 631-horsepower engine that achieves 8-mpg in the city and 13-mpg on the highway. A 6-speed manual transmission with overdrive is standard, and a 6-speed automatic transmission with overdrive is optional. The 2009 Murcielago is a carryover from 2008.
