CARS (Cash for Clunkers) Buying Guide

 

First, a note on how you can qualify for a Cash for Clunker voucher (all mpg figures are EPA combined):

Get more info on this vehicleYour trade in must get 18 mpg combined or less, be built after 1983, and still be in drivable condition. It must also have been registered and insured in your name for over one year.

Keep in mind you will be given a voucher for your vehicle, and not trade-in value on top of that. It's one or the other. To see if you car qualifies, check out our Cash for Clunkers trade-in evaluator. We also suggest you go to CARS.gov for all official rules and regulations.
