A word about this guide's methodology
To create this guide, we looked at all 2009 and 2010 EPA vehicle mileage data. On each page we provide a brand's top passenger car and SUV/truck based on combined mileage, and offer a pick of our own for using a voucher. In parentheses we include a vehicle's combined mileage, and the minimum MSRP you can expect to pay using based on its potential qualification under Cash for Clunkers. Example:
Top Car: 2009 Chevrolet Cobalt Sedan XFE (30 mpg, $10,490)*
Top Truck / SUV: 2010 Chevrolet Equinox LS AWD (26 mpg, $19,690)*
If it were our money: 2010 Chevrolet Camaro LS Coupe (29 mpg, $18,745)
We've also noted with a
50% Or More Club designation brands we anticipate having more than 50% of their vehicle lineup qaulifying for a voucher, and we've noted with a
100% Club designation brands with the distinction of having 100% qualify. A higher percentage means more options for you, the consumer. As always, before making a purchase please see our disclaimer and check out the official rules at http://www.cars.gov
